Medical Professionals

Approach

Having been trained in clinical dietetics at the Chicago Medical School and attending periodic continuing education at the University of California San Francisco (Gladstone Institute of Cardiovascular Disease), my clinical approach is science-based.  I strive to provide my clients with sound health advice and steer them away from unproven fads or mythical information.

Background

I earned a bachelor of science in Food Science & Human Nutrition at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, and a master of science in Nutrition & Clinical Dietetics at the Chicago Medical School (now called the Rosalind Franklin University of Medicine and Science).  Please see my bio for more information.  I received the Certified Nutrition Specialist designation from the American College of Nutrition in 2004, and was certified in Adult Weight Management by the American Dietetic Association in 2009.  For three years I was the nutrition therapist at the Anorexia & Bulimia Center of Hawaii, an IOP for adults with eating disorders.  Since then I have been further trained in nutrition therapy for eating disorders and frequently work as part of therapeutic teams to help treat disordered eating in adults and adolescents.

Treatment Focus

I see clients for general nutrition counseling, weight management, eating disorders, cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, hypertension, obstructive sleep apnea, and insufficient weight gain during pregnancy.
